Necklaces you don't take off. Stylr's necklaces are layered, stacked, slept in, swum in, and still look the way they did the day they arrived. We use 316L surgical stainless steel — the same hypoallergenic alloy used in body piercings and surgical implants — finished with PVD color coating or 18K gold-plating that's bonded under vacuum, not just dipped.

What makes these last

Most affordable jewelry uses thin gold-plating (sometimes called "flash plate") that wears off in 2–6 weeks of daily wear, exposing patchy brass or copper underneath. PVD on stainless steel is structurally different: the color is bonded ion-by-ion to a metal core that doesn't tarnish, oxidize, or react with sweat, chlorine, or perfume. Wear it in the shower. Wear it to the beach. Wear it to bed.

How to layer without tangling

Start with three lengths separated by at least 4 inches: a 16" choker, an 18–20" mid-length, and a 22–24" long pendant. Pick one statement and let the other two play support. Mix metals only if you're committing — one accent gold piece against two silver-tone reads as styled, while half-and-half reads as accidental.

The honest material breakdown

Every Stylr necklace is built on 316L stainless steel (10–14% nickel, fully bonded inside the alloy structure — not the surface-reactive nickel that triggers contact dermatitis). PVD color layers run 0.5–3 microns thick. Gold-plated pieces use 18K vermeil-equivalent over the same 316L core. We don't write "nickel-free" because that's chemically inaccurate; we write "hypoallergenic" because the data backs it up.

Common questions

Will it turn my skin green? No. Skin discoloration comes from copper and nickel surface oxidation reacting with sweat — neither is exposed on a 316L base. Can I shower with it? Yes, including saltwater, chlorinated pools, and hot springs. What's the warranty? One year against color fade or tarnish, no questions asked. What if my chain breaks? Email a photo within 30 days and we'll replace it — no return required for damaged goods.
