Frequently asked questions
Everything about materials, care, sizing and shipping — in plain language.
Will Stylr jewelry turn my skin green or trigger allergies?
No. Every piece is solid 316L surgical stainless steel — the same medical-grade alloy used in body piercings — with PVD-bonded gold tones that won't leach copper or turn skin green. 316L does contain nickel (about 10–14% by composition, so it is not "nickel-free"), but the nickel is locked in the alloy and its release stays well below EU REACH limits, which is why it's hypoallergenic in practice for most wearers. If you have a diagnosed nickel allergy, patch-test first.
Is 316L stainless steel nickel-free?
No, and we don't claim it is. 316L contains roughly 10–14% nickel by composition — the 'L' stands for low-carbon, not low-nickel. The nickel is bound in the crystalline matrix and rarely leaches, which is why 316L is hypoallergenic in practice for the majority of people with documented nickel sensitivity. For severe nickel allergies, ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium is the only truly safe alternative; Stylr does not currently carry titanium.
Is it real gold?
It's 18k gold PVD bonded to a 316L surgical-steel core — gold-plated, not solid gold, and we'll never pretend otherwise. The PVD process fuses the gold tone to the steel so it resists fading far better than ordinary electroplating.
Why did you choose 316L surgical stainless steel over gold-plated or vermeil?
Most jewelry at this price uses gold plating or vermeil — a thin layer of gold over a base metal that wears through with daily wear, exposing patchy silver or green-tinged brass underneath. We build on 316L surgical stainless steel instead: there is no base metal to expose, because the core itself is the corrosion-resistant alloy. The 18k gold tone is applied by PVD, which bonds to the steel surface rather than sitting on top of it as a soft plate. We are straightforward about the trade-off: it is gold-plated, not solid gold, and the PVD layer does wear over years of daily wear — it just holds up to shower, sweat and pool far better than vermeil over brass.
Are the stones real diamonds?
Our sparkle is high-grade cubic zirconia (CZ), not diamonds. CZ is brilliant, durable and honestly priced — which is how we keep pieces in the $39–$53 range without cutting corners on the metal.
Will it tarnish, fade, or change color over time?
No. Unlike sterling silver (which oxidizes) or thin gold electroplate (which rubs off), 316L is a solid alloy throughout and the PVD gold layer is bonded, not painted on. Backed by our 1-year color warranty against fading or discoloration.
Can I shower, swim, or sweat in it?
Yes — wear it everywhere. 316L stainless steel is naturally waterproof, sweat-proof and corrosion-resistant. Pool chlorine, ocean salt, sauna heat, soap and lotion won't damage the finish.
Can I sleep in my jewelry?
Daily-wear chains and stud earrings are generally fine to sleep in. Layered necklace stacks tend to catch on pillowcase seams, which is the most common chain-failure mode. If you regularly sleep in stacked pieces, lay the longest chain straight on top before settling in, or remove the bottom layer at night.
How do I clean my Stylr piece?
Once a month, soak briefly in warm tap water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse, and pat dry with a microfiber cloth. After ocean or pool exposure, do a 15-second fresh-water rinse the same day. Plain 316L without stones is also safe in ultrasonic cleaners; pieces with pearls, opals, or glued settings should not go in ultrasonic.
What should I avoid doing with my jewelry?
Apply skincare, sunscreen, and perfume before putting jewelry on — most product-related dulling traces back to fragrance and lotion contact. Avoid bleach, chlorinated bath products, and harsh solvents. Skip the ultrasonic cleaner on pieces with porous stones. And rinse with fresh water after ocean exposure — salt crystals in chain links cause more mechanical wear than the salt itself.
Are the earring backs and clasps secure?
Yes. We over-spec the structural hardware compared to typical demi-fine pieces — thicker bales, reinforced clasps, and butterfly backs that grip the post rather than slip off. If hardware ever fails under normal wear, our Lifetime Hardware Assurance covers it: clasp breaks, chain snaps, or a stone falls out, we replace it.
How do I find my ring size at home?
Three reliable methods: a soft string wrapped around the finger then measured against a millimeter ruler; a printable strip you wrap and read directly; or measuring the inside diameter of a ring you already own that fits. Always measure at the end of the day at a comfortable indoor temperature — fingers swell mildly through the day.
What if my ring doesn't fit?
Use our ring size guide for an at-home measurement. If your piece still doesn't fit after delivery, contact us within 30 days and we'll sort out the right size. Most ring orders never need a swap once measured correctly.
How can I tell what necklace length will look right on me?
Necklace length is mostly a function of where you want the piece to sit relative to your collarbone. 16-inch sits at the collarbone; 18-inch sits just below it; 20-inch reaches the top of the bust line. For layering, leave a 2–3 inch gap between chain lengths.
The piece looks bigger in photos than in person — is this normal?
Product photography is shot at macro distances that exaggerate scale. We try to counter this with on-model imagery and sizing in millimeters in every product description. If a piece arrives smaller than you expected and the photos misled you, contact info@stylr.us within 30 days and we'll work out a resolution under our 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee — usually without requiring a return shipment.
How fast do you ship?
Orders ship within 1–3 business days, Monday through Friday. Standard US delivery then takes 5–15 business days — most arrive in 7–10. International transit runs 6–15 business days depending on destination. You’ll receive a tracking link by email the moment your order ships.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — worldwide, and shipping is free on every order with no minimum. Customs duties and import taxes are covered by Stylr, so the price you see is the price you pay. International returns for non-quality reasons are at the customer’s expense.
What if my package doesn't arrive?
If your tracking has not updated for 7 business days after the ship date, email info@stylr.us with your order number — we'll open a carrier investigation and either resend the order or issue a full refund, your choice. We don't make you wait 30 days to start a lost-package claim.
What's your return policy?
30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee with a No-Return-Needed Resolution. For most issues you don't need to ship the piece back — we offer complimentary replacement, store credit, or a partial-or-full refund depending on the situation. Email info@stylr.us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a clear description (plus a photo for damage or quality concerns).
How long do refunds take?
When a refund is the resolution, it's issued to your original payment method within 3–7 business days after we agree on the resolution. We send an automatic confirmation email at the moment we issue the refund — you don't have to chase us. Bank processing may take a few additional days to post on your statement.
What's the warranty?
Every piece carries a 1-year color warranty. If it visibly fades, discolors or shows uneven wear within 12 months of delivery under normal use, we replace it free — just send a photo and your order number to info@stylr.us.
What happens if my clasp or chain breaks?
Stylr's Lifetime Hardware Assurance covers structural failure under normal wear: clasp breaks, chain snaps, or a stone falls out. We replace the piece — no 'skin chemistry' excuses, no proof-of-fault burden on you. Email info@stylr.us with a photo and your order number.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Klarna, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Depending on your country, checkout may also show local payment options. The payment step always shows everything available to you — see the full list.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout and you’ll be redirected to Klarna to complete your purchase. Klarna shows you the exact plan, amounts and dates before you confirm anything. Which options you’re offered depends on your country and on Klarna’s own approval.
What currency will I be charged in?
Prices and checkout are shown in your local currency where we support it — shoppers in Germany and across the euro area see prices in euros, for example. The amount you see at checkout is the amount you’re charged. Shipping is free worldwide.
